About this track

Rob had been struggling for a couple of months, with the idea of a song called "Anorexia Nervosa". Rob had been reading and researching the subject and had a pretty firm idea of the direction that he wanted the song to take. But as with all ideas, some don't work out quite the way you want them to and Rob was really struggling to get this particular track to come
together. He would write lyrics, try them out, throw them away and start again.
Musically, the idea was written it was the lyrics that Rob was really fighting with.
Changing the musical key of the song gave Rob another approach and eventually Anorexia Nervosa became “Anna”.

Meals became a battle - Didn't want to eat
Thinking every, painful, mouthful
Piled on the weight

And now she stands there, skin & bone
But in the mirror and in her mind looking fine
Wants to be like, the girls in the fashion magazines
Real life just ain't like that
In her head, she dreams, oh her dreams

Didn't like the way she looked, as her body changed
Heard the words that her mother said but
Treated them with disdain
All the other girls at school, looked so much better than she
In her head she was way too fat, heard them laughing at her
But, that wasn't the fact

And now she stands there, skin & bone
But in the mirror and in her mind looking fine
Wants to be like, the girls in the fashion magazines
Real life just ain't like that
Inside her head, she dreams, oh her dreams

Anna said that it was OK
Not to eat and for her too look this way
Anna told her what to do
Anna was her friend...... Inside her head

Mummy cried, Daddy pleaded and they begged
But there was no controlling Anna, inside her head

And now she stands there, skin & bone
