Oh! Baby

from Red Thread by Rob Tunbridge

/

about

This track is a really early one that was written by Stuart and myself, when we were working under the name of Strategic Plan.

Being honest, I can't remember which of us came up with the original idea for this song but, as with a lot of the songs that we wrote, it probably started with Stuart playing a riff or bass line on the synth and me hitting a few chords on the guitar.

I added this track for several reasons. Firstly, it really fits with the Red Thread theme. Secondly, I wanted to acknowledge the time that Stuart and I spent together in the early 80's. I honestly believe that we wrote some solid songs together and this is just one of them. Thirdly, I was mucking about at work and singing this song when one of my colleagues said: "You really should record that, it's brilliant."

lyrics

Oh! Baby

Living alone, away from the crowd
I call your name, I call it out loud
But you never hear ‘cos you’re too far away from me
You and me were meant to be
We seem to have the right chemistry
Thinking of you, sitting at home
All I have to do is pick up the phone and tell you…

CHORUS
Baby, I love you, you drive me crazy
what am I supposed to do?
‘cos I love you, you drive me crazy
What’s am I supposed to do?

I dread the times that we’re apart
They say, absence makes for a fonder heart
When I’m with you I know that it’s true
Thinking of you, alone at night
Reunited, our love is alright
It’s reassuring to know, just where you are
All I have to do is get in my car and tell you….

CHORUS

Break

CHORUS
Repeat to fade
